Auction Houses

Auction Houses

Most fur producers, farmers and trappers, sell their pelts through international auction houses.
The largest of these are based in Finland, Denmark, Russia, USA and Canada.

The auction houses play a vital role in the fur industry. They are mostly owned by fur farmers and
work closely with them to maintain high standards of animal welfare.

They also employ highly skilled experts to sort and grade fur and provide benchmarks for
quality assessments. Many of them supply quality labels.

The auction houses are also strong advocates of innovative design and work closely with
leading and emerging designers and fashion schools to explore new techniques and new
ways of incorporating fur into fashion.
